Larry Taylor

Larry in the studio                            Larry Onstage with "High Ground"

Larry grew up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Page County. His father was moved out of the mountains in the early 1930’s when the US Government seized their land to form the Shenandoah National Park. Music was a way of life for the mountain folk in the Appalachian area. Larry has a rich history of music in his family. He has been exposed to bluegrass music his entire life.

Larry has always been interested in music from an early age. Although he was around bluegrass, he grew up in a time of rebellious youth and followed his dream to play rock music and then country music in bands for 22 years. As a child, Larry can remember sitting on the edge of the stage as his parents performed for the public.

While in school, Larry received several awards for his vocal talents. While working a full time job to support his family, Larry has always kept music in his life.

As the years passed, Larry grew to appreciate bluegrass and returned to his roots in 2003 when he recorded a CD with Virginia Run, a Virginias based bluegrass group. He played bass and sang on the CD. Virginia Run released one of the songs from this CD and has received a wonderful response from the radio community and their listening audience.

Larry met Rick in the 70’s and a friendship was soon formed. Although both had played music all their lives, they had never played together. A project was discussed for years and finally, our dream has been fulfilled.

We hope that you enjoy this CD…..two old friends doing what they love to do best……make music and share time together. Now Larry's sharing time with four friends, playing guitar and bass with "High Ground"
