Jimmy Almarode

This man needs no introduction to bluegrass fans in the Shenandoah Valley. Jimmy's been one of the most notable mandolin pickers in the state for the last 25 years! Jimmy has been friends with Larry and Rick for 30 years. What started out as a jam session ended as"The Cabin Fever Band" with Rick and 15 years of touring, picking, and recording. A friendship was formed during those years that was the first thing that came to mind when we needed a Mandolin player (well, to be honest, it was the fact that he's a great player, but if you're going to get the best, he may as well be your friend!)

Besides the Cabin Fever Band, Jimmy had 2 tours with "Heather Berry and the Berry Pickers" and has filled in with more bands than can be listed. He's a popular choice!

Jimmy says that his Father-in-law had a tremendous impact on his musical career through his encouragement and support, and putting up with him in "the beginning." One of his crowning accomplishments was backing Charlie Waller on stage on several occasions.

Jimmy is a teacher and a coach at Stuarts Draft High School. Elaine is his wife, and he has two sons, John and Joe.

Jimmy has several hand built mandolins and performs usually on a Scholfield mandolin that he's had for 20 years and it "barks like a coon dog!"

We're awful glad to add Jimmy's tenor, lead, baritone and bass vocals along with his pickin' to High Ground!
